A lot of people ask me what I’m doing to lose the weight.
 
Most people tell you to count calories and exercise fifty-‘leven times a day.  Eat only carbs….don’t eat carbs.  Eat only meat…don’t eat meat.  Blah blah blah blah blah!
 
I tried their way for over 15 years!  Did you see that?! Yeah, I said FIFTEEN YEARS!!! If any that worked, I’d be a stick figure by now. And well, you see me right?! *insert eyeroll here*
 
I finally realized it just does not work. That’s when the rebel in me kicked in and I had to figure it out for myself.  I wanna eat what I wanna eat. Period!  The thing is, I just want to stop wanting to overeat.  Is that hard?  Turns out it’s not as hard as I thought it would be. All I had to do was change my mind.
 
Their way?  It’s hard forever.  My way?  It’s uncomfortable for a short time, then it becomes second nature. I really don’t want to overeat now. Who’da thunk it?
 
This is what I do…..wait! STOP!! This is what works for ME! Every person is different. This may or may not work for you. But before you try this or ANYthing else, PLEASE consult your doctor and read this.
 
Alright, now that that’s outta the way,  let’s get to the meat of it.  This is what I’m doing to lose weight.

  1. I stopped beating myself up. By far, THE most important.
  2. I’m eating food instead of chemicals.
  3. I change my mind, daily.  Hell, sometimes every minute.
  4. If I’m craving something, I plan for it.  And I eat it.
  5. I eat when I’m hungry.
  6. I make a conscious effort to move more every day.
  7. I fell in love with me.

That’s seriously all I do.    I don’t count calories.  I don’t portion control.  I don’t count points.  I don’t journal my food.  I don’t work out umpteen hours a day.   I don’t count carbs.  I don’t have to anymore.
 
By the way, for me, low carb is the DEVIL!!!!  Anytime you’re in Wal-Mart talking yourself out of getting a freggin’ watermelon, you know it’s evil.  I mean come on!  Watermelon is nature’s nectar people!!!
 
Anyway, I don’t do any of that.  I know I could if I wanted to, because I’ve done all of them before.  They all work, if you do them.
 
But, that’s the thing, I don’t wanna do something that I can’t do for the rest of my life.  THAT’S what’s different for me this time.  I want this to last.  I don’t want to just lose weight.  I want the weight loss to become a side effect of what I’m doing.  I want to become healthy.  I want to be strong!  Not just for now, but forever.
 
I don’t want to NOT eat what I want.  If I want chips, I want to eat chips.  The trick is, I want to not want to overeat them. THAT’S the key.  You can eat WHATEVER you want.  The trick is to know WHY you want it.  Once you know THAT, it’s a game changer.  Once you know that, you can fix it!
